October Holiday Weekend

DIT Library Kevin St will be closed for the October Holiday Weekend on:
  • Saturday 27th October and 
  • Monday 29th October
Usual semester opening hours apply from Tuesday 30th October:
  • Monday-Thursday: 9.30-21.30
  • Fridays: 9.30-17.15
  • Saturdays: 9.30-16.30

Maths Week 2012: "Silver lining: codes and clouds"

As part of Maths Week this year's RIA Hamilton Lecture will be given by Professor Yuri Manin,The Max Planck Institute of Mathematics, on Tuesday October 16th at 7.30pm in Gleeson Hall Theatre, DIT Kevin Street. Entitled "Silver lining: codes and clouds" the lecture will address error-correcting codes, their asymptotic bounds, and Kolmogorov complexity. Reserve your place here.

Printing Help Sessions @ Kevin St Library

Need help with getting the best from the RICOH printing service? Not sure how to print from webcourses, print from your laptop, print in colour, on A3 etc?  Help sessions will be taking place in the library at the following times to get you sorted:

Tuesday 16th October:      12.30-1.15pm
Tuesday 23rd October :     12.30-1.15pm
Wednesday 31st October: 12.30-1.15pm
Thursday 1st November:   12.30-1.15pm

Student Printers are also at the following locations around the Kevin St Campus:
  • Snackery (1st floor Annexe)
  • A114 (1st floor Annexe)
  • Beside Room 405 (4th floor Main Building)

JournalTOCs - shortcuts to keeping research up-to-date


JournalTOCs is the largest free collection of scholarly tables of contents (TOCs) from over 20,000 journals for use by students and researchers. JournalTOCs alerts you when new issues of your followed journals are published.  Most followed journals for September were Nature, Science, NEJM, the Lancet, and JAMA.

If you are a previous ticTocs user please note that your account and contents of your MyTOCS folder has been transferred to JournalTOCs, so your current awareness service continues without interruption.

Calling all DT 204 Transfusion students

After a publication delay the long awaited Transfusion and Transplantation Science textbook by Robin Knight is now available in Kevin St Library for DT204 students. As of today there are 6 copies at 615.39 in Book Stack 6.

If more copies are needed or one would work in the Short Loan Collection please let us know. This is the latest text in the Fundamentals of Biomedical Science series held in the library. See also the IBMS (Institute of Biomedical Science) link.

International Nuclear Info System (INIS)

INIS  offers online access to a unique set of non conventional literature (NCL) from the International Atomic Energy Agency. This consists of over 280,000 full text documents such as scientific and technical reports, conference proceedings, patents and theses not available through commerical channels. It also offers a mulit-lingual thesaurus.
