UK PubMed Central


UKPMC is a  free information resource for biomedical and health researchers and was developed with the founders of PubMed and PubMed Central and the National Center for Biotechnology Information. UKPMC provides a single point of access full-text articles and the abstracts available through PubMed as well as the following resources:

• 1.8 million full text, peer reviewed journal articles in all fields of biomedical research (the UK PubMed  Central repository)
• 24 million+ PubMed and PubMed Central abstracts
• National Health Service (NHS) clinical guidelines
• UK biomedical and health PhD theses
• European Patent Office Patents, Agricola, Chinese Biological Abstracts and Citeseer databases

ChemSpider


ChemSpider links together compound information across the web, providing free text and structure search access of millions of chemical structures. With tools to upload, curate and use the data, ChemSpider is the richest single source of structure-based chemistry information.

ChemSpider is owned by the RSC and provided as a free resource to the community.

Library Ireland Week

The “Off the Street” programme will begin each evening at 6.00pm on Monday 7th March through to Friday 11th March in DIT Library Kevin Street as part of Library Ireland Week. The series will open on the Monday with a dialogue between the visual work of Colm Desmond and the written word of poet and novelist Oran Ryan. This is followed on Tuesday by a open mike set of readings by established poets such as Eamonn Lynskey, Ross Hattaway , Raven and Karl Parkinson. Wednesday night will feature readings by Steve Conway while Gréagóir O Dúill the bilingual poet will take the stage on Thursday evening. The series will conclude on Friday.
