Web of Science database improvements

New Web of Science functionalities to hopefully make life a little bit easier:
  • Web of Science now covers the open access journal PlosOne.
  • New Tools for Author Promotion and Collaboration using ResearcherID
  • Invite colleagues to ResearcherID byof Google, Yahoo, and Hotmail contacts.
  • The ResearcherID homepage and added Map feature makes locating collaborators easier.
  • Faster location and retrieval of citation metrics.
  • Direct link to citation metrics data on a researcher's profile.
  • A new records view option saves time for robust searches.
  • Users can choose the number of records to view per page.
  • Use Cite While You Write™ with references found in shared EndNote Web groups.
  • Save time transferring up to 5,000 references between EndNote Web and EndNote desktop.

Royal Society is 350


Today, 350 years after the first meeting, the Royal Society (RS) is the world’s most prestigious and oldest surviving scientific academy and has 1,400 “Fellows” (FRS), including 69 Nobel laureates.
One of the two women finally admitted in 1945 was Irish-born: X-ray crystallographer, Dame Kathleen Lonsdale. Irish connections also include the Irish harp - one of the four national symbols on the society’s silver mace. The Royal Irish Academy is among the 91 international academies with links to the RS. ISPE Pharma Guides

Due to demand ISPE Baseline Pharmaceutical Guides Volumes 1-6 are now held in Short Loan at the Kevin St. Library Desk.

Note : Vols 3 & 4 are currently reprinting and the 2nd eds will be be made available as soon as they are published.

Long Loan Laptops now available


Long Loan Laptops - 28 days- now available to borrow from the Kevin St Library desk.

How to borrow:

  • The laptop & case will be issued to your DIT Library Account


  • Sign the loan application form at the desk and make a note of the return date.


  • Connect once to the DIT network (cable available from the library desk) using your student number and password.


  • Your profile will be stored on the laptop, so you will be able to log on when away from the DIT network.
